I'm starting my New Year early... While normally I've waited until January 1st to kick off new goals and start things fresh, I've ended up doing all of that now! I have a few more client sessions before I wrap up the 2015 photography year, and I'm so excited to see what 2016 will be bringing my way.
I've been brought on as one of three interns for The Hons. They are transitioning into being snow birds! They have an apartment in NYC and one in Orlando as well. I will be assisting them on weddings and events! This is a tremendous opportunity for me to get out and learn in the wedding industry and maybe even get to say, "I'm going to New York on a business trip."
Starting a blog out, fresh and unwritten, is intimidating. Writing is my favorite and least favorite thing to do, but I'm expecting that with more intention, I will get more down on paper and start working my way towards story-filled, edifying, soulful writing. For now, with this little opener-website update, informational blog post, here's what I'm doing...
I'm a Photographer. - I want to take pictures in pretty light with awesome clients. I have worked with 20+ clients this year and each one has informed my business decisions and molded my style. I am hoping to attend some workshops next year and continue learning more and more about this incredible industry.
I'm a Designer. - I am designing coffee mugs, note cards, and hangable art for anyone and everyone. I want to make gift giving an easy, quick, affordable thing. In just under 2 weeks, I'll be selling my products in PERSON at Boutique for a Week, which will be awesome. I plan to expand to calendars and other fun things eventually, as well as attending more sales and expanding on Etsy.
I'm a Nanny. - I take care of five sisters in the wide range of elementary-school to pre-pre-school ages. Oh my gosh, it is so much more fun than I ever imagined and I love each of my girls to pieces! I feel like I get to be a big-sister all over again and I know that deep down, they love me too... even if they've each given me heart attacks and frustration in their own "unique" ways.
I'm a Wife. - First and foremost. I live in Titusville with my amazing musician-husband. He teaches music lessons (anyone want to learn the guitar?) and works for a company that produces affordable folk and alternative musical instruments. He is a part of the assembly production team and works with his childhood best friend!
So we are married, and I'm working hard to make these dreams real. We'd love to make it as a wedding photography team. We've got what it takes, so why not jump in with both feet? We're not distracted (in a good way) by little ones thus far, and we've ended up with the time and desire to start working for ourselves. I feel like I'm rambling, but I just want to say over and over again, THIS IS THE DREAM. When I'm discouraged, or tired, or don't feel like making artsy things, THIS IS THE DREAM. I get to work from home, take care of beautiful kids part-time, and take pictures in the evenings. THIS IS THE DREAM. I'm so glad God is letting us use our talents in such practical, hands on ways, and that we get to make a living in the process.
I'll leave you with one of my favorite pictures of my littlest little, and the verses that have encouraged me for the past 5 years. Lamentations 3:21-25
"This I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him."
